Gale Richards

I come from a marketing background, and while on sabbatical from my job I ran into a friend who asked for my help in opening his salon. At the time, I had no idea that decision would change my career path entirely.

As I worked in a marketing capacity and became absorbed in the service menu, I found myself drawn to skincare. The opportunity for a partnership was presented, and I soon became the co-creator of what became Abacos Salon and Spa.

My interest in skin care continued to grow and I found myself under the mentorship of the area’s skin care guru, Romana Rainone. I was truly fascinated seeing the rejuvenation and incredible results of facials given for all types of problematic skin. With her guidance -and my enthusiasm- I receive my skin care license in ‘1999’. I then split my time between managing the day spa and working as a Skin Care specialist.

The need to address skin problems like rosacea and acne was on the rise and facials went from being a nice treat, to essential maintenance, and even medically necessary for restoration. Skin care became my passion!

It is incredibly rewarding to work on someone, and then sometimes a second and third generation. The chance to make someone look and feel better never gets old!

The timing was right in 2015 to sell Abacos, and I took the opportunity to step away from management and concentrate fully on what I love to do most – Facials and waxing. My specialty became aging skin and teen/adult acne. I went on to become certified in hyper-pigmentation, rosacea, sun damaged, scarred, and menopausal skin as well.

Part of my passion includes mentoring others in this field whenever possible, and continues to be a rewarding part of my career. I look forward to the opportunity each day to make someone look and feel fabulous!
